Like madder root

the blood
of birth exerts
its red upon the spring’s
white snow. The ewe she bleats, the lamb
it breathes

(its fleece not white as snow).

    • Thank you, Margo. Someday, I’d like to try dyeing something with madder root. I have an herb book that has dye recipes, but madder root is a zone 6 plant. Montana is zone 4.
