tomorrow’s chatter chimes,
resubmerging symphonies
might drown before our eyes.
And everything that ever was
will never be the same,
except the pounding sound of drums
that rage against the rain.

Thank you, Marianne. I wrote this on the way to my folks’ place, and when I read it aloud, it feels deep. It means more than I knew when I wrote it, and I’m still not sure what that is, but it resonates.
