Bittersweet regret
Remains beneath my tongue
Hiding its lashes
Fighting its voice
It hisses
It stings
And it stutters
Trying to lose its place
In this life
So far from home

Regret always has a tang, a bite. A terrible feeling gathering up the throat. Really interesting take on the taste of regret.

This left me sad and a bit forlorn…which means it was terribly successful.

I’ve found that regret tastes different depending on what it is one regrets. Some regrets are more bitter than others.
