after the fallout

Crows choreograph infinity
against a cinder sky
until black feathers unfurl
beneath their screeches
and float to the pale open
hands of a girl-child who
inserts them into her snaky
red dreadlocks
whirling a dervish
to flash the crows’ audacity
back at them,
to make them take notice
of her power.

Visit The Mag. My immediate thought when I saw the picture was fighting crows.  Then I read Infinity, the piece that Tess wrote this week.  The idea of infinity in the picture added inspiraton.
