James Garner ate potatoes and apples.
He’s dead now.
Connections shatter and form,
as Rockford’s files
flutter through television’s memoried past.
Model tobacco scratches my back.
Oranges are not the only fruit.
The smell of potatoes frying
lights me on fire,
as apples delicious
drip juices suspicious
across Jim Rockford’s smile.

Nice tribute, Brenda, to one of my favorite actors.
Well written too.
I did not know he had died, aged 86.
I liked him as Bret Maverick and in the Great Escape.
Sadly missed!
Eddie 🙂

I’d just heard he died. What a nice thought to make a tribute out of the Magpie.

A lovely “In Memoriam.” Grew up with Garner: Maverick, the Rockford Files, and my favorite “Murphy’s Romance.”

What a convoluted connection you grubbed up here, along with the potatoes! 🙂

According to reports, natural causes. I just assume he ate potatoes and apples, like most of us are prone to do. Potatoes and apples aside, we all die. They were my tie to that commonality.
” He’s dead now ” is sarcasm I use with some friends regarding beloved pets that have passed. It makes us laugh through, or at, our grief. Thanks for asking. I’m sure his death will be on the news for a few days, too. Celebrity.
